1. Who we are
AMK Research (the "Office") is a mediating institution registered in Geneva, Switzerland, with correspondence offices in Berlin and Singapore. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the Office acts as the data controller for personal data it holds in the course of its editorial and institutional work.
Questions about this policy may be sent to office@amk-research.org.
2. The personal data we collect
- Correspondence data: your name, organisation, email address, and the content of any message you send via the contact form or by email.
- Scholar and faculty data: professional affiliation, publication record, and credentials provided when you apply to or accept an invitation to contribute.
- Technical data: limited log information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, retained for security and aggregate analytics.
- Cookie data: see Section 6 below.
3. Why we process it (lawful bases)
We process personal data on the following GDPR lawful bases: performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps you have requested; our legitimate interests in conducting and administering institutional research; and your consent, where that is the appropriate basis (for example, optional analytics cookies). We do not sell personal data, ever.
4. How long we keep it
Correspondence is retained for as long as the editorial matter remains active and for a reasonable archival period thereafter. Faculty records are retained for the duration of the engagement and for the period required by professional and tax obligations. Technical logs are retained for a maximum of twelve months.
5. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port the personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing on the basis of our legitimate interests. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, write to office@amk-research.org.
6. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to operate this site (for example, to remember that you have responded to the cookie banner). With your consent, we also use a small set of analytics cookies to understand which essays and pages are read. You can accept or decline these optional cookies via the banner shown on your first visit, and you can clear your choice at any time by deleting site data in your browser.
7. International transfers
Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on adequacy decisions or, where none exists, on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
8. Changes
We will post any material change to this policy on this page and update the date shown above. Substantive changes affecting correspondents on our records will also be notified by email.
